Every summer we invite all the kiddos and families to our Summer Reading Finale picnic. This year’s theme was Superhero Training Academy. We set up a some fun activities that can be found via Pinterest for the kiddos (and some of the “cool” older kids and a parent or two!) It was a beautiful day, filled with fun and laughter. Thank you to all who participated in Everyhero Has a Story … our sponsors, parents, The Friends, children, colleagues and friends. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Summer Reading has come to an end. And what better way to finish, than to read some beachy books? As I read To the Beach by Linda Ashman we added some pieces to our story board and we also read Llama Llama Sand & Sun by Anna Dewdney. Up next: a wonderful little tune called Baby Shark which I borrowed from Jbrary. As for our craft, a colorful goldfish.
Our final 4-H program of the summer. It has been wonderful to have both Megan and Janice here this summer! Today’s discussion was about water. Life depends on water, it is an important natural resource that is currently a hot topic around the world! Megan and Janice educated the children on why and what they can do to help.

Do you in need of a magician? You MUST hire Mr. Magic! His show is chock-full of fun for the kiddos as well as their parents. We lack a large meeting room, so we hosted Mr. Magic’s Superhero Magic Show in the Adult library. By the end of the program we had patrons, who simply dropped in for a book, standing around watching the show! Thank you to the Friends of the Library for supporting this amazing program!
We had an EXCELLENT program today: Mad Science of Fairfield and New Haven Counties’ Watts Up? Techo Terry was on hand with an electrostatic machine … Boy, oh boy, it certainly was hair raising! (I even gave it a whirl!) Thanks to The Friends of the Library for sponsoring this fantastic program!
Today we had enjoyed an indoor campfire! Yep! Miss Susan created a very realistic indoor campfire. LOTS of fun as we shared Duck Tents by Lynne Berry and Biscuit Goes Camping by Alyssa Satin Capucilli. We talked about backyard camping, and glamping and campfires. And who can forget about singing around the campfire?! This little ditty called Sticky Sticky Bubblegum was found via Pinterst from the Jbrary. (A video was taken, and will be forever lost in the archives!) These two ladies ROCK! Of course, our craft for the day was marshmallow painting. We even had a few leftover for a special treat.
