Today was our first Summer Bunch storytime. We celebrated the firefighter, our everyday hero. We read two books: The Little Fire Engine by Lois Lenski and Firefighter Frank by Monica Wellington and sang a song I found here. And for a craft … we made some super-fancy fire hats!
Our first program of the summer was a BLAST! If you haven’t had a chance to experience A Silly Sing-A-Long, you have sorely missed out! Thank you to The Friends of the Library for supporting this talented (and quite silly) performer. We hope to have him back at the Burnham Library soon …
I am so proud at the students who completed our Genre Reading Challenge. On Wednesday, June 17th, we celebrated their success with a Pizza Party sponsored by The Friends of the Library. The kids ate lots of pizza and chilled-out (I did a bit of chilling too, as we watched Free Bird! this movie is hilarious). In order to mark their achievement, all the students who were presented with a Genre Reading Badge.
We had a great turn-out this past Saturday, for our Every Hero Has a Story Summer Reading Registration/Kick-off! Thanks to all who turned-out to kick-off a summer of fun!
We are starting to get ready for Summer Reading 2015: Every Hero Has a Story! Things are coming together and I thought I would share a bit of a preview of what we have accomplished this week.
