Frogs! (If you know me they are one of my favoritest things) We read Frog in the Bog by Karma Wilson (love love LOVE this book!) and Jump! by Scott M. Fischer. So much fun with our Frog in the Bog flannel board and finished with a rousing rendition of Five Green and Speckled Frogs — story prop idea was found on Librarians vs. Storytime
Happy to be back after a week of spring ‘break’. I decided on a pizza theme for today. Because, seriously, who doesn’t LOVE pizza!? We read a cute book by Frank Asch about Baby Bear having his first pizza. We sang a The Silly Pizza Song (didn’t get pictures of that flannel board, errr) But, you can find the words here.
Our craft today? A slice of pizza! Yummmmm, now I am getting hungry.
WOW! We had a amazing time today! Miss Susan hit the ball out of the park with this idea she found on Pinterest via Ordinary Life Magic. She made a great decision to use hard-boiled eggs (phew!). A bit of water was sloshed around … but it was well worth it!
Alligators on the agenda today … we read Lady with the Alligator Purse and used felt pieces for our board. I found this little ditty from Storytime with Miss Tara and Friends. We sang it to the tune of The People on the Bus and added some arm movement with snapping jaws and swinging tails.

As we sat down to our delicious chocolate chip cookies from the Bridgewater Village Store, I overheard the girls talking about why another girl wasn’t attending today. ALL their stories were different and it led to a perfect discussion on gossip. It’s like a game of telephone and as people add their insights, biases, and prejudices a simple story becomes one of legends.
The recipe only uses three ingredients and can be found on Your Homebased Mom: coconut Oil, un-petroleum jelly and Crystal Light mix. Super-easy! I found that my gloss came out perfect … but the girls’ gloss wouldn’t set? I am hoping that a little refrigeration will help that along! We discussed the many of uses of coconut oil … and the girls had an amazing time running it through their hair (sorry moms and dads!)
We read two books about chicks today: There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Chick by Lucille Collandro and Chicks Run Wild by Sudipta Bardhan. Our flannel board was all about our silly Old Lady … boy does she like to eat some crazy stuff! Craft today: Chicks!
