Science Explorers: Helicopters

We had to a lot of steps, in order to complete our helicopters! But, it was worth it …

Burnham Bunch: Turkeys

We are celebrating Thanksgiving a bit early … with a lot of turkey talk! We read 10 Fat Turkeys by Tony Johnston and Gobble, Gobble, Crash by Julie Stiegemeyer. We incorporated some counting on our flannel board with 10 Fat Turkeys and sang a little song, Turkey Wore a Red Feather, to the tune of Mary Wore a Red Feather. As we sang, the kiddos came up to the board and added their colorful feather to our turkey. We ended with a new twist to the hand-turkey … patchwork collage turkey. See you all in two weeks! Happy Thanksgiving!

Burnham Bunch: Squirrels

It does not feel like Winter is anywhere near  … but we read two books on squirrels preparing for Winter: The Busy Little Squirrel by Nancy Tafuri and Waiting for Winter by Sebastian Meschenmoser. (p.s. I am in LOVE with this book!!!) Prior to reading our books we discussed squirrels, hibernation, acorns, winter and etc. We then used our flannel board to decide if a white sock could actually be snow? — NO! Of course not, silly! Then we sang a little ditty called I’m a Nut. I was amazed at the tongue clicking abilities or our kiddos 🙂 FINALLY, we all made a paper bag squirrel.

Burnham Bunch: Dog’s Colorful Day

Today we read Dog’s Colorful Day by Emma Dodd and Bark, George by Jules Feiffer. These two books are super-cute and fun to reads for preschoolers. Our interactive storytime included, counting, animal sounds, and matching-up colors. I had also planned to sing BINGO, but I am feeling a bit under-the-weather … so we skipped the singing. Last up, the kiddos colored and stickered some doggies.
