library I was thrown into a tizzy today … News Channel 3 and Mark Dixon taped a segment for “Cool Schools” …. and author/illustrator Mercer Mayer was here to read to the Burnham School kiddos. So, I tried to pick an “easy” project for today. I reused my fave book, Frog in a Bog by Karma Wilson, (LOVE this book) and a flannel board activity that goes along with it. We also sang a tune about a speckled frog on a speckled log … not sure if you ever heard of it?!
Big Happenings in Bridgewater today, as Channel 3 News tapes “Cool Schools” with Mark Dixon! Congratulations to Burnham School … we always knew that you were cool! And we had the amazing opportunity to meet author/illustrator Mercer Mayer. Pretty much a great day here at the library …
Using Lego bricks we challenged our Explorers to build a bridge … this bridge must be able to hold a cup of quarters. Most of our kiddos choose to construct a beam bridge. All the bridges survived the challenge.
The look on their faces is priceless!!
Today’s theme was butterflies. I use this them every year … trying to make it fresh each time. I found a great pin on Pinterest which uses a coffee can caterpillar. The kiddos had the chance to “feed” our caterpillar, while I read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carl. So fun! We also read Butterfly, Butterfly by Petr Horacek. This book has a beautiful pop-up butterfly at the end! A nice little surprise.
Hope everyone enjoyed their Spring Break! I had a nice rest and now feel recharged! We are currently putting the finishing touches to our Fizz, Boom, Read! Summer Reading 2014 program. Keep a look out in the next few weeks for further details!

Happy Easter and Happy Passover!
Dance Camp began in December. It was an idea brought to us by teen Ashley Mulhare. She LOVES dance, and wanted to share that with the children of Bridgewater. She provided a free opportunity for kids to discover dance. It’s been a great time for all the kids involved. I hope that Ashley is very please with the results!
